“The 2022 SCULATTI ‘Obsidian Springs’ Cabernet Sauvignon takes its name from the remarkable abundance of raw obsidian scattered throughout its 3.5-acre vineyard on the slopes of Glass Mountain, in the St Helena Appellation. Reflecting the unique volcanic terroir from which it comes, this wine opens with captivating aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plum, and black cherry, gracefully layered with hints of dark chocolate, baking spices, and a touch of finely integrated French oak. On the palate, the wine is generous and beautifully polished, showcasing a lush, velvety mouthfeel with a softer, more refined tannin structure that allows the purity of the fruit to take center stage. Vibrant flavors of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and plum unfold effortlessly across the palate, accented by notes of cocoa, vanilla, and subtle spice. The finish is long, silky, and elegant, lingering with layers of ripe dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, and delicate savory herbs.
